SEVERN SHORES LINE
|
Description:
Join us for this unique journey along one of the more scenic and historic pieces of Mainline that is often overlooked. Departing Gloucester, behind an ex-Great Western Hall locomotive, we pass the site of former junctions which tell their own story. Not long after this, we skirt around the fringes of the Forest of Dean, before coming to the stunningly scenic Severn Estuary at Gatcombe. We pass the historic site of the famous Severn Railway Bridge which has its own tragic story and continue at speed past the preserved Dean Forest Railway at Lydney. Running along the shores of the Severn Estuary once again, we cross the River Wye into Chepstow, before running across the border into Wales and joining the South Wales Mainline at Severn Tunnel Junction. From here, we continue at speed towards Newport and beyond to Cardiff, reminding ourselves how the line looked before the electrification of the line in 2018.
With live sound recorded from the locomotive, we bring the action right to you.
This program also features commentary, titles and locations.
Locomotive Featured: GWR Hall Class, No.4965 Rood Ashton Hall.
